Over nearly 30 years, the United States and the Republic of Moldova have built a strong partnership based on shared values, and it’s time now for a U.S. Embassy in Chisinau that reflects the depth and breadth of that relationship and provides a platform to work toward our shared goals. Our new embassy will respect the cultural and historic significance of the site while providing a new, accessible public park for the enjoyment of the community. The United States plans to invest more than 250 million dollars to build a new embassy in Chisinau, creating hundreds of jobs, supporting local businesses, and contributing to Chisinau’s economy. We will continue to work transparently to develop our new embassy, paying fair market value for the site, and working with Moldovan authorities to ensure the new complex meets the needs of the local community and helps to further strengthen the 30-year partnership between the United States and Moldova.
